Dataface UI Toolset
Using the
Dataface UI Toolset shifts an IT department’s focus away from
keeping pace with the ever-changing technical environment and towards improvements
in application functionality for business users.
We create web-based applications for intranet/extranet use interfacing to data on
multiple database servers or via a
DWFastrac data warehouse deployment.
How it works
Customers describe their databases and screen dialogs in an XML file, which is
interpreted dynamically by a “Dataface Virtual Machine” (DVM) component on the
client workstation. The DVM controls the PC screen browser directly without any
need for HTML or ASP pages, a technique known as “dynamic forms architecture”.
Applications are faster to create because the DVM handles all the usual functions
of database retrieval, screen navigation, and data validation. Programmers only
provide the business logic unique to their own applications, which can be written
in Visual Basic or any other .NET language.
The DVM also acts as a more intelligent layer of the database, providing desirable
user features which programmers rarely have time to implement, such as the ability
to enter price changes to take effect at a future date.
How it helps
Reduced Costs – modern architecture that reduces the time to build,
deploy and maintain web-based applications.
Investment Protection – browser styled application solutions architected with
state-of-the-art versions of technologies such as .NET, XML, Web Services, Silverlight.
Resource Friendly – natively supports highly technical interfaces,
simplifies staffing requirements.
Reduced Developer Training – developers tailor simple XML constructs to control
most application functions and when necessary write concise business objects to deal
with unique business rules.
Reduced User Training – common user interface reduces initial user training
time and on-going training support costs.
