DEFINITION
The need to identify and control costs is obvious, and so is the need to tie receipts and receivables to the right jobs and activities. It is less obvious how to ensure that summary information presented to senior management is accurate, and even less obvious how to provide line management and supervisors with prompt enough feedback on their areas of operation.
Just as with a work-order system, a specialized auxiliary system may be necessary because the enterprise system cannot be expected to do everything the enterprise needs.
